Senior Electrical Engineer
Sequoia Engineering & Design Associates (SEDA) has a rare opportunity for an Electrical Power Engineer/Project Engineer. This Engineer will collaborate on small to mid-size projects in the energy, industrial oil & gas, power, heavy industrial, battery energy storage, renewable energy (Solar PV) and related sectors.

Common Roles & Responsibilities:

Project scoping and development, in collaboration with senior staff and clients

Engineering and design of electrical systems for new facilities, expanding or upgrading existing facilities

Performing engineering calculations for sizing and specifying equipment
-
Familiarity with, and ability to run, power system simulations using analytical tools such as ETAP
-
Preparing equipment and construction specifications, proposals, etc.

Providing CAD Technicians with technical contents for the creation of engineering drawings and documents for construction
-
Review/quality control of CAD work by others, managing engineering documents for projects, and supporting other staff with project-related activities as needed by projects.

Problem solving and troubleshooting system issues and recommending options and solutions.

Reviewing and analyzing bid documents, with recommendations for contract awards.

Completing site visits for accurate project scoping, observe and document existing systems in high degree of detail (as-building), carrying out field follow-up on construction activities related to the drawing packages developed by Sequoia.

Attending project meetings in partnership with clients and other consultants.
Typical assignments may include:
-
Detailed design and documentation of Power Systems (including solar & storage), Instrumentation, Control and Electrical (ICE) systems, including, but not limited to, single line diagrams, schematic (elementary) diagrams, interconnecting (connection) diagrams, control panel layouts & connection diagrams (assembly drawings), electrical site/conduit plans, installation details, conduit, and circuit schedules and equipment layout.

Design of power systems,

Review of reference drawings received from clients, coordinating electrical design and implementation with other technical disciplines (piping, mechanical, structural, etc.) in-house, as well as with other consultants and with Client's Engineering and Operations personnel.

Review of bid and construction drawings.
Qualifications & Requirements:
-
Experience: 5-10 years in electrical engineering and design, including projects, possibly plant support and field work, with emphasis on Downstream and Mid-Stream sectors work a plus.

Experience with utilities or independent power producers a plus. Exposure to control systems design a plus. Less experience will be considered based on candidate’s qualifications and work background.

Education: B.S. in Electrical Engineering, power electives a plus

Certification: None, but working towards an EIT or a PE a plus

Understanding aspects of project engineering, including coordination with other ongoing projects, effect on multi-discipline projects, estimating engineering and design efforts for defined tasks, and engineering schedules.

Ability to work with a project team, including senior staff and design/drafting personnel.

Understanding of CAD programs features for design (e.g. AutoCAD and Microstation)

Effective in using flexible approaches for successful work outcomes
Knowledge of:
-
For Electrical Design Engineers, knowledge of 480V AC systems and possibly medium-voltage systems – equipment specs, applicable manufacturing standards.

Good understanding of the National Electrical Code, particularly Article 500, and general familiarity with IEEE and ANSI standards.

Understanding of basic process measurements (temperature, flow, pressure), PLC wiring, auxiliary control devices, signal conditioners, etc.
